Hi ladies!
If you follow me regularly then you know I am always focused on skin care and trying new products and treatments. I don’t think that the best results are going to come from a cream alone and some of the treatments available at medispas today are well worth looking into. I never thought I would be one to try anything so different and I was honestly really nervous about trying microneedling but it wasn’t anywhere near as drastic as I was expecting before I learned more about what it was and how it works!
I visited Hemingway Medical Spa in west Edmonton and met with Dr. Olesen. We went over my skin concerns which are mainly new lines that have been popping up and just bringing an overall glow to my face. He suggested microneedling, a procedure where they take a roller device with tiny needles and go over the skin to create little channels. The tiny punctures stimulate collagen production and the channels are also filled with a serum which helps treat the deeper skin layers. The needles are only 0.25 mm so it barely reaches through the surface of the skin, which was a huge relief because needles are a serious fear of mine.
They were really helpful at answering my questions and making me feel at ease but once it started it really wasn’t too bad and didn’t take more than twenty minutes or so. Afterwards there were a few small red patches on my face. It it cleared up within about an hour. I didn’t notice much effect for the first couple days but around 7-10 days later I did notice my skin looking much smoother, any little red acne bumps have mostly disappeared and overall I’m more youthful looking. I did only go for one treatment and you are supposed to have the best results if you go in for successive treatments.
I would recommend trying microneedling if you are looking into different skincare options. I was so nervous about it but if I can do it anyone can! The results were great and I’m sure they would be even better if I went again.

Till next time,

Oh I’ve been curious about this! Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome, Emma!
Microneedling sounds like a great concept! The problem is that my dermatologist really wants to make sure my skin clears up; I tend to have an adverse reaction (physical) to anything new.
Definitely get the okay from your doc first, especially if they have you on a treatment plan already! This isn’t super invasive though and I think it’s unlikely for reaction. I did have a bit of redness after but I cleared up as my skin healed itself!
I’ve never heard of that before! I struggle with acne. I’ll have to see if any salons near me do that!
It’s a common treatment these days, although you’re more likely to find it at a Medical Spa than just a regular spa!
this looks so interesting! I’ll have to look into it!
It is so interesting! I never thought I would try it but I’m so glad I did!
This was so great to read, I’ve always been so curious about microneedling!
Definitely worth a try!
Been hearing so much about this. Honestly scared to try it – but you make it look easy. Thanks for sharing!
I was scared to death! Lol. But I made it through and it wasn’t bad.
